Biography
Hansjörg Weißbrich, born February 6, 1967, in Siegen, studied music, French literature and theatre, film and TV studies in Dortmund and Bochum. Weißbrich then worked as an assistant editor before becoming a freelance editor in 1995. Since then, Weißbrich has edited all of Hans-Christian Schmid's films from "Nach fünf im Urwald" ("It's A Jungle Out There") over "23" to "Crazy" and even "Lichter" ("Distant Lights") which won him the Schnitt prize together with Bernd Schlegel as well as a nomination for the German film prize.
Weißbrich has also repeatedly worked with Florian Gallenberger ("Quiero Ser"), and with Vivian Naefe, for instance for "Frauen lügen besser" (1999), which won them both a German film prize, and for both "Wilde Hühner" ("Wild Chicks") films (2006 and 2007). Weißbrich won his second nomination for the German film prize for the editing of Torsten C. Fischer's film "Der Liebeswunsch" ("Impossibly Yours").
