Summary
Ben, an Orthodox Jew from Brooklyn, is to be set up by his family - something he has absolutely no desire to do. To escape the arranged marriage for the time being, he volunteers to travel to Alexandria to save the Jewish community there. It was once the largest in the world, but now lacks the tenth man to celebrate the Passover. However, the journey proves to be full of obstacles, and the New Yorker ends up stranded in the Sinai desert. Out of necessity, he teams up with the taciturn, grumpy Bedouin Adel, who is searching for his lost camel. Both realize that they need each other to find their way out of the desert. But to do so, the disparate men must try to reconcile ultra-Orthodox religious practices from Brooklyn with Bedouin pragmatism.
