All Pictures (3)Biography
Ingo Haeb, born in Hamburg in 1970, first studied film at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. After graduating, he went on to study screenwriting at the German Film and Television Academy (dffb) in Berlin. Among his best-known works are the screenplays for Tom Schreiber's drama "Narren" ("Fools", 2003) and the comedies "Am Tag als Bobby Ewing starb" ("The Day Bobby Ewing Died", 2005), "Die Schimmelreiter" ("Sheep and Chips", 2008) and "Hochzeitspolka" (2010), all directed by Lars Jessen.
In addition to his work as a writer, he has appeared in small roles in films such as Stefan Krohmer's "Sie haben Knut" ("They′ve Got Knut", 2003) and Ulrich Köhler's "Montag kommen die Fenster" ("Windows on Monday", 2006). Haeb made his directorial debut in 2006 with the TV drama "Neandertal," which he co-directed with Jan-Christoph Glaser and for which he also wrote the screenplay. His second feature film, the tragicomedy "Sohnemänner", premiered in German cinemas in spring 2012.
In 2014, Haeb's next directorial work, "Das Zimmermädchen Lynn" ("The Chambermaid Lynn") premiered at the Munich Film Festival. It's a chamber drama centered on a young woman's pursuit of human connection in a unique way. The film's star, Vicky Krieps, won the award for Best New Actress at the Munich Festival, and the film won the FIPRESCI Award and the Competition Award for Best Artistic Contribution at the World Film Festival Montréal in 2014. "Das Zimmermädchen Lynn" was released in German cinemas in May 2015.
In the years that followed, Haeb focused primarily on screenwriting. He wrote the episode "Schnitzel geht immer" (2017, directed by Wolfgang Murnberger) for the five-part TV movie series "Schnitzel," which deals with the daily challenges of two job seekers. He was also responsible for all scripts for the follow-up series "Ohne Schnitzel geht es nicht" (2019), created in collaboration with Katja Kittendorf.
Together with Jeanine Meerapfel, he developed the concept for Meerapfel's documentary "Eine Frau" ("A Woman", DE/AR 2021). In 2019, Haeb, together with Georg Nonnenmacher and Karin Berghammer, directed the mockumentary "Diamante - Fußballgott", a project about the search for a (fictional) German footballer who achieved superstardom in Brazil. The film was released in the fall of 2023.
