Summary
Stars Above Us
When Melli is forced to move out of her apartment at short notice, the single mother and her nine-year-old son Ben find themselves without a roof over their heads. Melli's initial confidence that her new job as a flight attendant will help her quickly find a new apartment soon gives way to the bitter insight that homelessness is not just a temporary interlude in her otherwise reasonably regular life. And so what Melli had planned as a temporary solution becomes a permanent situation: living with Ben in a tent hidden in the forest. While these extreme conditions closely unite mother and son and Ben sees the whole thing as a big adventure, Melli is struggling under the burden of having to function in her job and at the same time keeping Ben's life on track as well as possible. In addition, she has to make sure no one finds out about her situation, as without a proper place of residence Melli runs the risk of losing custody of Ben. Thus, at some point she has to make a serious decision.
