Biography
Guenter Reisch was born in 1927 in Berlin. He took drama lessons in 1948 and worked as an assistant director under Gerhard Lamprecht, later under Kurt Maetzig and Martin Hellberg. "Young Whippersnappers" ("Junges Gemüse", 1956) was his first film after joining the DEFA as a director. His other films include: "Revolt of the Conscience" ("Gewissen in Aufruhr", 1961), "A Lively Christmas Eve" ("Ach, du froehliche",1962), "Lord of Alexanderplatz" ("Ein Lord am Alexanderplatz", 1967), "Maiden, You Please Me" ("Jungfer, sie gefaellt mir" ,1969), "In Spite of Everything"(Trotz alledem, 1972), "Anton the Magician" ("Anton der Zauberer", 1978), "The Fiancée" ("Die Verlobte", 1980) and "Wie die Alten sungen…" (1986).
Günter Reisch died February 24, 2014.
