Biography

Celine Meral, born in Berlin in 1992, appeared in several leading roles at the P14 youth theater of the Volksbühne Berlin in 2016. A year later she was part of the ensemble of the web series "Country Girls". In 2018, Meral took private acting lessons at the Susan Batson Studio in New York, USA, where she subsequently completed another acting course lasting several months. Back in Germany, she appeared in stage productions at Berlin's Ringtheater and Volksbühne.  

Celine Meral made her film debut in 2018 with a small supporting role in Burhan Qurbani's "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (theatrical release: 2020). In 2021, she starred at Berlin's Ballhaus Ost in Paula Knüpling's and Marina Prados' play "Ladybitch – Ein Theaterabend über den Untergang Franz Kramers", about a young, inexperienced actress who is sexually harassed by her director during theater rehearsals. Meral also played this role in the film adaptation "Ladybitch", which premiered at the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in early 2022, where it received the "Socially Relevant Film Award". For her performance, Meral was awarded Best Actor at the Achtung Berlin 2022 festival. The theatrical release of "Ladybitch" was in March 2023.
