Biography
Marina Prados was born on August 2, 1994 in Vilanova i la Geltrú near Barcelona, Spain. In 2014 she began studying acting at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona but ended her studies early in 2016 to move to Berlin. There she gained practical experience through internships (including at the Volksbühne) and guest performances (including at the Maxim Gorki Theater). In 2018, Prados founded the theater production company cmd+c with her partner Paula Knüpling. Since then, the two have been active as a directing duo in Berlin's independent theater scene, with productions at the Volksbühne's P14 youth theater and Ballhaus Ost, where in 2021 they staged the play "Ladybitch – Ein Theaterabend über den Untergang Franz Kramers", which deals with abuse of power and sexual harassment in the workplace and is based on their personal experiences.
Prados and Knüpling made their joint film directing debut with the screen adaptation of the play "Ladybitch". They founded the production company Ladybitches Productions while working on the film. At the Max Ophüls Preis 2022 film festival, "Ladybitch" was awarded the "Prize for the Socially Relevant Film". At the Achtung Berlin Film it received the award for the best feature film. At the TeleVisionale Film and Series Festival 2022 it received the MFG Star. The German theatrical release was in March 2023.
