Nina Hagen, born March 11, 1955, in Berlin as Catharina Hagen, is the daughter of actress Eva-Maria Hagen and screenplay writer Hans Oliva-Hagen. Later, Wolf Biermann became her foster-father. From 1973 on, Hagen attended Zentrales Studio für Unterhaltungskunst, and became the singer for the band "Automobil" in 1974 who had a hit single with "Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen". After Wolf Biermann’s expatriation, Hagen, too, left the GDR in 1976 to become one of the few internationally famous German rock singers. She sang everything from punk rock to funk music and even Zarah Leander songs. Furthermore, Hagen starred in the leading role of the TV movie "Heute ist Freitag" (1975), but since then only sporadically appeared in movies such as "Lilien in der Bank" (1992), "Vasilisa" (2001) und "7 Zwerge" ("7 Dwarves", 2004). Hagen also worked as a dubbing voice, for instance in "Spirited Away" (2001). She is the mother of actress Cosma Shiva Hagen (born 1981)
