Summary
In the mid-1980s, the Stuttgart region becomes the scene of a chilling murder series. Victims are found shot in the head at remote forest parking lots, with their cars immediately used as getaway vehicles in bank robberies. The police launch an intensive investigation into the so-called "Hammer Killer"—named for his use of a sledgehammer—but fail to solve the case. Over time, suspicions arise that the perpetrator might be someone within the police force itself. Meanwhile, the Rohloff family struggles under mounting debt. Christa Rohloff begins to suspect that her husband, a police officer suffering from extreme mood swings, could be connected to the robberies and murders.
The crime thriller, based on a true case, earned the prestigious Adolf Grimme Award in 1991.
