Summary
3096 Days
Screen adaptation of the eponymous book in which Austrian author Natascha Kampusch recounts her abduction as a child and her years of captivity: In 1988, the then ten-year-old Natascha Kampusch was kidnapped on her way to school. For eight and a half years, the perpetrator, an unemployed communication engineer named Wolfgang Priklopil, held her captive in a subterranean hideout under his house. In 2006, the girl was eventually able to escape. Before the police could arrest him, Priklopil took his own life. Soon, Kampusch's liberation becomes the subject of political intrigue and a sensationalist media craze, and grotesquely, the young woman is turned into a celebrity due to her suffering. Finally, she realizes that in order to find peace, she has to liberate herself once more.
