Antonia Campbell-Hughes was born in Northern Ireland in 1982, and subsequently raised in the United States, Germany and Switzerland. She started modelling as a child, but eventually switched to acting in 2005. In 2006, she first caught attention as a cast member of the British comedy programme "Lead Balloon", in which she starred till 2011.
In addition, she appeared in supporting and guest roles in British TV series, and was also featured in Jane Campion's period drama "Bright Star" (2009). Campbell-Hughes had her first major screen role in the British drama "Five Day Shelter" (2010). This was followed by a supporting role in the period drama "Albert Nobbs" which starred Glenn Close and Mia Wasikowska. She was nominated for the British Film and Television Award for her portrayal of a young sleepwalker who gets involved in a mysterious murder case in "The Other Side of Sleep" (GB, 2011). In 2012, she was cast as the female lead for "3096 Tage", the screen adaptation of the autobiographical book by Natascha Kampusch, who was abducted as a ten-year-old and then held captive for more than eight years. The highly anticipated film was released in Germany in February 2013.
