Zrinka Cvitešić was born in Karlovac, Croatia on July 18 1979. As a teenager, she took singing and dancing classes and following her school graduation, she studied acting in Zagreb. She joined the ensemble of the city's Croatian National Theatre, and after several supporting film and TV roles, she got her first leading part in the period drama "Konjanik" (Croatia, 2003).
She won the actor awards at the film festivals in Sarajevo and Pula for her performance in "Sto je muskarac bez brkova?" ("Was ist ein Mann ohne Schnäuzer?", Croatia 2005), and in 2010, she was named "Shooting Star" at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, where she was also seen in Jasmila Žbanić's "Zwischen uns das Paradies", which premiered in the Berlinale competition. She later received a nomination for the European Film Award for her performance in the film.
In 2012, Zrinka Cvitešić won the Bernhard Wicki Film Award for her leading role in "My Beautiful Country – Die Brücke am Ibar". The film was released theatrically in Germany in December 2013.
