Biography

Wolfgang Menardi was born in Innsbruck, Austria on September 26 1977. From 1997 to 200, he studied acting at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich. Already during that time, he appeared in a small role in Herbert Achternbusch"s "Neue Freiheit – keine Jobs". He made his theatre debut in Dieter Dorn"s 1999 staging of Shakespeare"s "Cymbelin" at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Following further appearances at the Kammerspiele and the Münchner Akademietheater, he joined the ensemble of the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam and stayed till 2004. Later, he acted on stages in Paris, Strasbourg and Bourgogne. In Germany, he appeared as Mephisto in the 2006 staging of "Heinrich und Margarethe" in Essen, and also played at the Thalia theatre in Hamburg. In 2006, Wolfgang Menardi founded the artist collective WOJO, which is based in Berlin and Paris.

Alongside his extensive work in the theatre, Menardi sometimes also appears in film and television productions. He starred in the psychological thriller "Narrenspiel" (2007) and the period drama "Bergblut", which was directed by Philipp J. Pamer and won the Audience Award at the 2010 Munich Film Festival.
