Van-Tien Hoang was born in Rheine on June 26, 1980. After studying German language and literature in Düsseldorf from 2004 to 2009, he started working in the film and television sector in 2011. Among other jobs, he worked as a visual effects production assistant (uncredited) on Lars Henning Jung's mystery thriller "Schreie der Vergessenen" (2011, TV) and as a visual effects production manager on the American horror film "The Ghostmaker" (2012). In 2013, Hoang was a research editor on the TV show "Mein Lokal, Dein Lokal."
In 2015, he began preparing his own feature film project "Das Ende des Schweigens" ("The End of Silence"), a docudrama about the Frankfurt homosexual trials of 1950/51. The following year, he also worked as a production assistant on Frauke Lodders feature film "Morpheus" and directed the five-minute short film "Equality" about homophobia.
Parallel to his film work, Hoang also began to pursue other activities. For example, he was an executive assistant at an import company and worked in the customer service department at Deutsche Schifffahrts-Agentur GmbH. In 2020/21, he trained as a financial accountant and began working as an accountant for an energy supplier.
During those years, van-Tien Hoang continued to work on "Das Ende des Schweigens". The premiere took place in October 2020 at the Queer Filmfest Weiterstadt, where the film won the audience award. The film was theatrically released in November 2021. Hoang lives in Ratingen.
