Sarah Nevada Grether, born in 1982 in Reno, Nevada (USA), grew up on a farm in Camarillo, California. She received classical dance training at a young age at various renowned schools in the U.S. and moved to Germany at the age of 16, where she went to the Hamburg Ballet School from 1998 to 2001. From 2001 to 2006, Grether was part of the ensemble at the Stuttgart Ballet; there she performed Stella in John Neumeier's adaptation of "A Streetcar Named Desire" and appeared in choreographies by John Cranko, Uwe Scholz and Christian Spuck, among others. In 2008 Grether began working as a freelance artist in the fields of modern dance, performance art, singing and acting. In film, she was seen in the experimental theater film "Die Verlorenen" (2014) and as a dancer in the web series "Big Heads" (2014), among others. Isabelle Stever's feature film "Grand Jeté" premiered in the Panorama of the Berlinale 2022, starring Sarah Nevada Grether as a ballet teacher obsessed with her physicality who develops an increasingly intense relationship with her estranged son.
