Biography

Márton Vízkelety, born in Hungary, began to actively engage in photography at the age of 13. After graduating from high school, he studied at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, where he graduated as a cinematographer in 2007. After that he started working as a freelance cinematographer, mainly in the field of short films and documentaries on Hungarian productions. In 2009 he participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus and in 2013 was a participant of Alexei Rodionov's Master Class in Moscow.

Since 2013, he has been working regularly with producer Julianna Ugrin. She hired him as a cinematographer on some of her company's documentary projects, including "Hot Men Cold Dictatorships" (HU 2015), about the situation of homosexual men in contemporary Hungary, and "Folyékony arany" (HU 2019), about the rediscovery of the legendary Hungarian sweet wine variety Aszú.

Together with Ugrin, Vízkelety began shooting his (and her) directorial debut "Vater unser" ("Our Father", DE/HU) in 2019, for which he was also responsible for the camera. In the film, the two accompany the Catholic priest of a Hungarian village who secretly has a family in the neighboring village. The German theatrical release of "Vater unser" was in summer 2022.
