Marie Schöneburg was born in Potsdam-Babelsberg in 1983. Her grandfather was the actor, opera singer and voice actor Alfred Steinbrenner. From 2006 through 2010, she studied acting at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and performed in plays at the Salzburger Landestheater and at the Theatre Central Salzburg. After her graduation, she worked at the Altes Schauspielhaus Stuttgart (2010), at the BAT Berlin (2011), at the Komödie am Kurfürstendamm (2012/2013) and at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm (2013).
In 2013, she was part of the ensemble of the Mockumentary "Niemand hat die Absicht, einen Flughafen zu eröffnen". A year later, she starred alongside Nadeshda Brennicke and Valerie Niehaus in the role of a lonely hairdresser in the TV comedy "Frauenherzen" (2014). Schöneburg made her debut on the big screen in Andreas Arnstedt's satirical drama "Der Kuckuck und der Esel" ("The Cuckoo and the Donkey", 2014), where she played the rural sister of a bestselling author. Among other productions, she starred in Niki Stein's critically acclaimed pseudo-documentary "Öl – Die Wahrheit über den Untergang der DDR" (2015, TV) and in the poetical drama "8 Sekunden - Ein Augenblick Unendlichkeit" ("8 seconds", 2015). In summer 2017, the satire "Das schaffen wir schon" (Director: Andreas Arnstedt) had its theatrical release. Marie Schöneburg played the lead role, a frustrated unemployed woman, who takes Angela Merkel and other politicians hostage during a prime time talk show.
