Biography
Gábor Altorjay was born in Hungary in 1946 and studied Theology from 1966-1967. He was granted political asylum in Germany in 1967 and then wrote many radio plays for WDR and HR. His feature film debut "Tscherwonez" was made in 1981 and was succeeded two years later by "Pankow 95". These were followed by the shorts "Ben"s Bridge" (1989, also script and production) and "Polsprung" (1990), which was part of the international film project "City Life". "Ben"s Bridge" won the Directors Choice Award at the 13th Black Maria Film Festival in 1993 while his latest project, "Punta Grande", was given the jury"s special prize at the Hungary Film Days in 1996.
