Biography
Florian Borchmeyer, born 1974 in Wasserburg, has studied literature and works as a literary critic for Frankfurter Allegemeine Zeitung besides being a filmmaker. While wirting his dissertation on the first written evidence in 16th century Latin America, Borchmeyer founded the production company "raros media" with Matthias Hentschler. raros media"s main focus is on film and TV productions about Latin American themes. After several documentary and video projects (on the "Love Parade" and other topics) Borchmeyer made his movie debut in 2006 with the documentary film "Havanna – Die neue Kunst Ruinen zu bauen" ("Havana: The New Art of Making Ruins") which won "Best documenary film“ at the 2006 Bavarian film prize.
