Biography

Florian Baxmeyer, born 1974 in Essen, studied sociology in Cologne. He already came into contact with the film business during his studies when he worked for several film productions as a runner, production manager, and assistant director. From 2000 to 2002, Baxmeyer studied directing at the film faculty of Hamburg University. His graduation film "Die rote Jacke" ("The Red Jacket", 2002) won several awards at international festivals. Furthermore, "Die rote Jacke" was nominated for an Academy Award and won the Student Academy Award in 2003.

Baxmeyer made his feature film debut in 2004 with the TV thriller "Mörderische Elite". In the same year, he directed the sophisticated mystery drama "Das Blut der Templer" ("Code of the Templars"), another TV production. In late 2007, Baxmeyer, a member of the American "Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Scienes", finally made his cinematic debut with the children"s book adaptation "Die drei ??? – Das Geheimnis der Geisterinsel" ("The Three Investigators and the Secret of Skeleton Island").
