Biography

Eva Trobisch was born on August 3, 1983 in Berlin. After gaining practical experience as an assistant director and in the script department, she successfully applied to the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (HFF) in Munich in 2009. During her studies she made several short films, some of which won awards. Her feature film "Wie du küsst" (2012) won the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern Award at the Regensburger Kurzfilmwoche.

Trobisch was also a guest student in dramaturgy at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York, and in 2015 began a master's program in screenwriting at the London Film School. The screenplay for her HFF graduation film "Alles ist gut" ("All Is Well", 2018) was also written there. This film, about a woman who conceals and represses that she was raped, was a great success for Trobisch: at the 2018 Munich Film Festival, it was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize and the New German Cinema Award for Best Actress; Trobisch herself received the New German Cinema Award for Best Director. Shortly thereafter, "Alles ist gut" won the prize for Best First Feature at the Locarno Film Festival. The German theatrical release took place in the fall of 2018. After that, "Alles ist gut" continued to receive awards at the Hamptons International Film Festival (USA) and for Best Director at the Stockholm Film Festival followed. In 2019, Trobisch received the Studio Hamburg Newcomer Award for Best Film and the German Film Critics' Award for Best Feature Film Debut. Also in 2019, she made the short film "Der Sommer kommt" together with Christoph Ischinger at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. In the 2021/22 season, Trobisch realized her first theater work at the Theater Basel, a production of Kleist's play "Penthesilea".

For her second feature film, the friendship and euthanasia drama "Ivo", Trobisch was named "Director to Watch" by industry publication Variety at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2024. "Ivo" celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale 2024 in the Encounters section.
