Biography

Carmen Losmann, born 1978 in Crailsheim, studied from 2003 to 2008 at the Film/Television Department of the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. She works as a freelance director in Berlin and Cologne. Already during her studies she realized documentary films, in which she dealt with the topic 'working world'. This subject area was also the focus of her much acclaimed and highly praised feature film debut: the documentary "Work Hard - Play Hard" described the world of Human Resource Management in the modern working world.

The film received very good reviews and was awarded several prizes: at the DOK Festival Leipzig 2011 Losmann won the FIPRESCI Prize, the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and the Healthy Workplaces Film Award for Best Documentary Film on the subject of work; at the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival 2011 she was awarded the Goldener Schlüssel, and in 2014 the prestigious Grimme Prize. Together with Eva Bockenheimer and Stephan Siemens, Losmann published a book of the same name on the film in 2013.

At the Forum of the Berlinale 2020, Carmen Losmann presented her documentary film "Oeconomia," which revolves around the topics of money, the market and the economy, and which explains macroeconomic dependencies. The film was released in German cinemas in autumn 2020.
