Summary
Numerous films were produced in Germany during the Nazi reign from 1933 until 1945. They all need to be understood within the context of state-influenced production and ideological indoctrination. Around one hundred of these productions are considered to be genuine propaganda films. And about forty of them are restricted from regular distribution and are not to be screened in public.
In his documentary, director Felix Moeller explores which films exactly are still restricted, why they were banned in the first place and what is their impact today – for many of them are illegally available in the internet. Moreover, the film discusses if new ways of dealing with the forbidden Nazi propaganda films are needed today.
