Summary
Daniel, Marika and Leo have Tourette's syndrome and want to get to the bottom of the cause of their disease. The film accompanies the three on their search for new forms of treatment in various research centers in Germany and France, where they confront doctors with their personal experiences of misguided therapies. Together with Prof. Dr. Münchau and the psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Alvarez-Fischer, the protagonists of the film finally travel to Finland, where they find space in the vastness of the country to behave completely freely with their tics - without irritated looks from society or even sanctions. They learn from the Sami about their view of the world and experience shamanic rituals; with meta-cognitive therapy, they try a new form of treatment in which directing their attention plays a central role. Gradually, during their stay in Lapland, the stigma of the tics fades more and more into the background and they learn to self-confidently handle their Tourette's.
