Summary
Paradise: Belief
The second film in Ulrich Seidl's "Paradies" trilogy tells the story of Anna Maria, a devout Catholic, who has plastered her apartment with crucifixes and regularly flogs herself in order to purge sins committed by others. Even during her holiday, she shows no interest besides her faith: She carries a statue of Virgin Mary from door to door, trying to convince people of Christian paradise. When her husband Nabil, a muslim who's been living in Egypt for years, returns one day and claims his place at her side, a domestic war ensues. Eventually, the escalating marital conflict has Anna Maria questioning her beliefs.
