Summary
Walking from Munich to Berlin
On the first of June, 1927, Fischinger left Munich for Berlin, with only a backpack, the most rudimentary film equipment and a camera. He preferred to walk on country roads along fields, meadows and small villages, capturing sights with his camera. The walk took him three and a half weeks, compressed to three minutes of film. Footage of sunsets and leaves of grass moving in the wind are contrasted with scenes of hop pickers at work or rowers on a calm river. A couple in elaborate local costumes stand still, women and children strike poses for their portraits.
