Summary

A film essay which concerns itself with all possible variations and manifestations of "viruses". This encompasses biological, computer and even speech viruses. Apart from that, there are viral strategies, codes and metaphors. From the discourse of epidemics, which started in the 14th century with the great plague, to the official "hygiene programs" and the medical exploration of contagious diseases, from cyber terrorism and data contamination up to virulent ideas, thoughts and words, the film investigates the factual and metaphorical meanings of the term. A virus, as the filmmakers conclude at one point, can be the epitome of threatening strangeness, but at the same time a synonym for high flexibility and both creative and innovative action.
