Summary

Heinz Rühmann plays the tramp Alfred, who seems to have no perspective for a long time. The break in Alfred's life came with the war, after which he only worked now and then. His goal was a "trip to the south". In his old age, he slowly befriends the policeman Erwin, who in turn begins to develop interest and then affection for Alfred. Erwin finds himself in the old man's dreams. He supports Alfred where he can, and so it happens that Alfred finally gets his hands on a plane ticket to Mallorca.
