Summary
The Invisible Ones
Documentary film about one of the first female homicide detectives in Hamburg, Marianne Atzeroth-Freier, and the case of the Hamburg acid barrel murders. As one of the first women in Hamburg's criminal investigation agency within the police forces, Marianne Atzeroth-Freier faced a lot of resistance. Nevertheless, in 1991/1992 she independently investigated two femicides, which later became known as the Hamburg Acid Barrel Murders, after she noticed the similar fate of the victims. With her unconventional approach and a (dis)respectable amount of courage, she pushed the investigation forward and eventually made a name for herself in the male-dominated police force by solving the case. Using eyewitness interviews, original footage and interwoven dramatized scenes, director Matthias Freier guides through the events.
