Summary
Documentary on the life and work of Abisag Tüllmann (1935-1996). Tüllmann, who was born in Hagen in 1935, worked as a photographer for publications like Der Spiegel, Die Zeit and the FAZ. She made portraits, travelogues and frequently documented life in Frankfurt. From 1964 on, she also worked as a theatre photographer with a keen eye for the subtle details behind grand gestures. The film displays over 500 black and white pictures made by Tüllmann. Moreover, it includes excerpts from films by Carola Benninghoven, Helke Sander, Alexander Kluge, Günther Hörmann und Ulrich Schamoni. Director Claudia von Alemann quotes fromTüllmann's letters, and interviews the later artist's peers, colleagues and friends.
