Anja - Life on the Frontline

Film adaptation of the career of German photojournalist Anja Niedringhaus: At the age of 26, Niedringhaus comes to Sarajevo in 1992 to report on the war. The conditions are desolate, everybody's life is in constant danger. Spanish photographer Sergio takes the young woman under his wing and shows her how to survive in a war zone. Niedringhaus learns quickly, and over the next three years she reports regularly from the region. In the following years, she works in Kosovo and Afghanistan, among other places. In 2001, she photographs the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York. In 2002, she is signed up by Associated Press (AP), the world's most prestigious photo agency. Over the years, her photos are published on the front pages of major international newspapers, and in 2005 she receives the Pulitzer Prize for her reporting from Iraq. In 2014, she is shot dead in an assassination in Afghanistan.
