Summary
The Castle
In slow, deliberate images, the film retells the grotesque story of Franz Kafka’s novel of the same name. K. arrives in a village near a castle, ready to start a job as a land surveyor, but never receives any work orders. Although a messenger from the castle brings him a message, K.'s attempts to enter the castle and speak with his employer are in vain. Meanwhile, he takes a job as a school janitor. The reason for his appointment as a land surveyor is never disclosed, and the more K. seeks answers, the less clarity he finds.
