Summary
Documentary about two children from refugee families trying to start over in Germany. In Hamburg, 8-year-old Roma Djaner, who feared his bullying classmates back in Macedonia, now lives and learns without being harassed. Yet just when he begins to feel at home, his family is threatened with deportation. Meanwhile, 11-year-old Ghofran from Syria has other problems. The other girls at her school enjoy freedoms she doesn't know and accept at first, like putting on make-up or bicycling. Nevertheless, she wants to adapt to life in Germany.
Director Pia Lenz accompanied the two families over the course of one year, and she relates which difficulties the refugees have to cope with in their new home.
