Sisterqueens
The documentary follows young Berliners Jamila, Rachel, and Faseeha, who, between the ages of nine and twelve, immerse themselves in hip-hop culture and form the group "Sisterqueens." Over four years, the film captures their growth as both friends and artists—at home with their families, during rehearsals, studio sessions, and live performances. They tackle gender stereotypes in rap, share their experiences with racism and exclusion, and channel these struggles into their lyrics. Along the way, they reflect on themes like self-worth and empowerment. As Faseeha pushes her artistic limits, Rachel contemplates the meaning of self-determination, and Jamila witnesses an incident that shakes her trust in the police.
