Born in West-Berlin in 1965, he studied at Hamburg College of Fine Arts from 1984- 91. After taking his degree in visual communications he became a research student, receiving a DAAD scholarship to Chicago in 1994. Since 1979 he has produced numerous short films in varying genres and formats. In 1990 he began working as a filmmaker and artistic contributor (largely as a cinematographer) on film and television projects. He has been a lecturer at Hamburg College of Fine Arts since 2003.
