The cynical Jakob and the romantic Marie both have professions that involve working with couples, but they have very different goals. Marie, a couples therapist, aims to salvage relationships, while Jakob, a divorce lawyer, brings them to an end. They share little else in common. However, they are both supposed to be the best men at the wedding of their friends, Ruth and Tobi. With the wedding on the verge of cancellation, they must put aside their differences and work together to salvage what they can. Despite the conflicts and confusion they encounter along the way, Marie and Jakob discover that they have more in common than they first thought.
