Der verlorene Zug
Lost Transport
Germany, spring 1945: As British troops approach, prisoners from the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp are being transported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic. But after the engineer and guards in the uncoupled locomotive flee from the Red Army, one of the deportation trains is stranded in the middle of a pasture with more than two thousand Jewish prisoners. The starving people on the train have to rely on help from the nearby town of Tröbitz to survive. But after an outbreak of typhus, the village and the train's occupants are placed under strict quarantine by the Russian occupation forces. It is in this situation, marked by a desire for revenge and mutual distrust, that an unexpected friendship develops between the Jewish Dutch girl Simone, the young German girl Winnie and the Russian sniper Vera.
