Biography

Saskia Diesing was born in 1972 in Winschoten, the Netherlands. She studied film at the University of the Arts (HKU) in Utrecht and, after graduating in 1996, began working for the Dutch television station VPRO.  There she worked as a program planner and eventually as editor-in-chief. In 2003, Diesing left the station and turned to filmmaking. She made several short films and TV dramas before making her award-winning feature film debut with the coming-of-age drama "Viel mehr geht nicht" ("Nena", NL/DE 2014). She made another coming-of-age film with the Dutch production "Dorst" ("Craving", 2018), followed by the '#metoo' drama "De zitting" (NL 2021).

At the Cologne Film Festival in October 2022, Diesing presented the feature film "Der verlorene Zug" ("Lost Transport", NL/LU/DE), a Holocaust drama based on real events. In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Saskia Diesing teaches screenwriting and directing at HKU Utrecht.
