Ben Wichert
Benjamin Wichert, born in Duisburg in 1989 to immigrants from Ghana, discovered his passion for dance as a teenager, started dance training and successfully participated in international competitions at the age of 18. Nevertheless, after graduating from high school, he completed an apprenticeship as an automation technician. At the same time, he remained active as a dancer and over the years advanced to become one of the world's most famous dancers and choreographers in the field of hip-hop freestyle. In 2021, he was the first German world champion in this category in Paris. Further awards followed.
Wichert is also the founder and managing director of the multimedia dance center Urban Art Complex in Wuppertal. In addition, he works as creative director at the Hip Hop Academy in the Kulturpalast Hamburg, gives lectures and workshops.
He made his acting debut in the feature film production "Fly" (2020), directed by Katja von Garnier. In the drama, he played a juvie who participates in a dance program in prison.
