Summary

62-year-old Michael has worked on a huge bucket-chain excavator for more than 40 years, but refuses to accept the imminent coal phaseout. A flourishing landscape of lakes with floating solar panels is set to take the place of the open-cast lignite mine in the future. But working at the mine is more than just a job for Michael, and so he tries to convince his colleagues to protest against the rapid changes. He embarks on a final battle against his boss, the eco-activists, and his family, losing himself completely in his fight for his life's work. Michael simply cannot accept the feeling that he is no longer needed and eventually has to decide who he wants to be and for whom he is really fighting…
