Hannas schlafende Hunde

Austria, the year 1967. Young Hanna, her mother Katharina and grandmother Ruth live secluded in the small town of Wels. Katharina painstakingly makes sure they don't stand out in the community and that the regional customs, like church mass on Sunday, are observed. Assimilation, restraint and humbleness is also what Katharina tries to teach Hanna. Eventually, the local pastor reveals to Hanna why her mother behaves that way: Katharina, Hanna and Ruth are Jewish, and twenty-two years after the war, Wels is still home to many Nazis. Katharina wants to let sleeping dogs lie, yet while Hanna understands her mother's deep-rooted fears, the keen girl is longing to embrace her hidden identity.
