Biography
Therese Koppe, born in Berlin in 1985, studied sociology and art history in Jena from 2007 to 2011, followed by studies in documentary practice at Brunel University in London (2012-2013). In 2015 she began studying documentary film directing at the Film and Television Academy 'Konrad Wolf' in Potsdam-Babelsberg. As a student Koppe did research for various art and cultural projects in Seoul, Istanbul, Athens and London. She also gave lectures at the Southbank University in London.
Koppe made her feature film debut with her graduation film "Im Stillen laut" ("A Quiet Resistance", 2019). The documentary film portrays two 81-year-old female artists who have been living as a couple on an art farm in Brandenburg for decades and who were harassed and spied on in the GDR. "Im Stillen laut" premiered at the Leipzig DOK Festival 2019. It won the audience award at the Duisburg Film Week. The film was theatrically released in Germany in autumn 2020.
