Biography

Tamar Tal Anati was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1980. Until 2005, she studied at Camera Obscura School of Arts in Tel Aviv. Her graduation feature "The Iron Lady and the Photohouse" (IL 2005), a film about Miriam Weissenstein and her husband, photographer Rudi Weissenstein, who chronicled the story of the young State of Israel in pictures, won several awards. Tamar Tal Anati further explored the subject in the documentary "Life in Stills" (IL 2011), which follows Miriam Weissenstein and her grandson Ben as they take care of the photographic legacy of Rudi Weissenstein. The film won numerous international awards, including the audience Award of the Berlin Jewish Film Festival.

In 2016, Tamar Tal Anati premiered her next feature "Shalom Italia" (IL/DE) at the DocAviv Festival in Tel Aviv: For the documentary, she accompanied three Israeli brothers born in Italy, who travel to Tuscany in order to find the cave in which they hid from the Nazis during their childhood in WWII.
