Biography
Philipp Klinger was born in Filderstadt in 1985 and grew up in a village in the Black Forest. After graduating from high school, he trained as a media designer. He then gained practical film experience as an editor and assistant director on several short films and commercials. With his first own short film "Das Institut der verlorenen Dinge" Klinger successfully applied to the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2010. As a scholarship holder of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, he studied scenic directing there. In 2014, he completed a semester abroad at Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2018, he graduated with the 20-minute feature film "Feuertaufe."
Philipp Klinger made his feature film debut with "Albträumer" ("Dark Dreamers", 2020), a coming-of-age drama about grief, love and self-determination. After its premiere at the Hofer Filmtage 2020, "Albträumer" was released in German cinemas in the summer of 2021. Philipp Klinger lives in Berlin.
