Biography

Paul Leon Wollin was born on March 17, 1989, in Berlin, and discovered his passion for acting at a young age. From 2009 to 2012, he trained at the Berlin Film Acting School, performing in stage productions during his studies. Notably, he appeared in the play "Clash" at the Junges Deutsches Theater during the 2011/2012 season. He later joined the Ballhaus Naunynstraße, where he participated in various productions. In 2013, his lead performance in the play "Verrücktes Blut" earned him the Ensemble Prize at the International Theater Festival "Kontakt" in Toruń, Poland. Wollin reprised this role in 2015/2016 at the Maxim Gorki Theater.

After early roles in short films, Wollin gained television recognition with a recurring part as the leader of a youth gang in the RTL series "Unter uns" (July–September 2014). His first lead role in a feature film came with the critically acclaimed drama "Toro" (2015), which explored the deep, complex friendship between two young men earning their living as sex workers.

In the years that followed, Wollin frequently appeared in TV crime dramas, often cast as suspects. His roles included appearances in "SOKO Leipzig," "Arthurs Gesetz," "Marie Brand," and "Professor T." In 2021, he had a recurring role as a lonely security guard in the six-part series "Am Anschlag – Die Macht der Kränkung."

On the big screen, Wollin delivered a standout performance in the award-winning thriller "7500" (DE/AT 2019), starring alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Aylin Tezel as an Islamist terrorist and airplane hijacker. In the award-winning social comedy "Toubab" (2020), he portrayed a feared gang leader. Another notable role came in "Gewalten" ("Forces," 2022), where he played a sensitive outsider who forms a bond with a young man exploited by his family.

Despite his success in film, Wollin continued to work extensively in television. He portrayed a suicidal suspect in the crime series "Wolfsland" (episode: "20 Stunden," 2022) and the violent son of a shady businessman in the "Tatort" episode "Schutzmaßnahmen" (2023). Additional appearances included guest roles in "Die Discounter" (2022) and "SOKO Köln" (2023).

In 2024, Wollin joined the ensemble cast of the Netflix action film "60 Minuten" and delivered a powerful performance in the award-winning social drama "Vena." In "Vena," he portrayed a drug addict who together with his girlfriend, also struggling with addiction, faces an unplanned pregnancy.
