Michèle Brand, born in 1991 in Altdorf, Switzerland, studied architecture in Zurich and subsequently worked for various architectural firms. She also works as a service employee in the catering industry in the canton of Uri. Brand lives in her hometown of Altdorf and applied for the lead role in Michael Koch's mountain farmer love story "Drei Winter" ("A Piece of Sky") in response to an ad in the local newspaper. After several screen tests over a long period of time, she finally landed the lead role of a woman whose husband develops a brain tumor shortly after their wedding. The film premiered in competition at the Berlinale in February 2022, where it got a Special Mention. It was theatrically released in December of the same year.
