Melia Kara, born in 2001 in Berlin, first gained acting experience in school theater and as an extra. After graduating from high school, she began studying Business Communication. Her entry into professional acting came by chance while she was still a student: In 2022, she participated in a street casting for the feature film "Ellbogen" and impressed director Aslı Özarslan so much that she was cast in the lead role. In the movie, she plays a 17-year-old German-Turkish girl who experiences intense marginalization and flees to the unfamiliar city of Istanbul after a violent incident. "Ellbogen" won several awards at various festivals and was released in German cinemas in September 2024. Despite her success, Kara remained committed to her university studies while attending additional auditions to pursue an acting career.
