Biography

Malik Blumenthal was born in Berlin on July 14, 1992. He made his big screen debut at the age of 22 in a supporting role in "Uns geht es gut" ("We Are Fine", 2015), about a clique of young misfits who drift aimlessly through summertime Berlin. In Raimund Ley's acclaimed TV drama "Tod einer Kadettin" (2017), he was a cadet on a Navy training ship. Blumenthal played his first leading role in the award-winning love story "Jibril" (2018), as a juvenile prisoner who begins a romance with a mother of three. He won Best Actor for this role at the Kinofest Lünen.

Blumenthal had supporting roles in feature films in the provocative Berlin youth story "Yung" (2018) and in "Sunburned" (DE/NL/PL 2019), a mixture of youthful summer love story and refugee drama. On television, he primarily took on guest roles in various series, such as "Großstadtrevier" and "Tatort." He played a lead role in the TV series "Falkenberg - Mord im Internat?" (2019), as an elite student whose clique is involved in a mysterious death. He also appeared in music videos of the bands Kummer and Giant Rooks.

Malik Blumenthal played another leading role on the big screen in "König der Raben" ("King of Ravens", 2020), as an illegal migrant in Germany who begins an amour fou with a German woman. After its premiere at the Hofer Filmtage 2020, the film was released in cinemas in the summer of 2021. Almost simultaneously, "Glück" ("Bliss", 2021), a lesbian love story of two sex workers, was released, with Blumenthal in a supporting role.
