Biography
Lukas Rinker, born in 1986, studied media design at Mainz University of Applied Sciences from 2010 to 2016. During this time, he realized numerous commercials as well as several short feature films, some of which won awards. His five-minute film "Misguided" (2012), about two men talking about women and (supposedly) 'misunderstood' touches on a park bench, won the award for Best Regional Short Film at the Frankfurt Lichter Film Festival. His bachelor's degree film "7 Köpfe für den Henker" (2013), about four friends who bring a medieval hangman back to life during a hike, won the 'Best of Show' award at Visionale Hessen.
After graduating with a master's degree in January 2016, Rinker shot a variety of infomercials (including Deutsche Bahn, 2016), commercials (including for Lidl, 2017), recruiting spots (e.g. for the German Federal Association of Chimney Sweepers, 2019) and image films (Cancer Counseling of Sigmaringen, 2020) as a freelance filmmaker. In addition, he realized his own short film projects such as the five-minute "Misguided 2" and the three-minute "Der Urnengang" (2019).
In March 2021, the shooting of Rinker's feature film debut took place in Offenbach am Main and Frankfurt: The real-time thriller "Ach du Scheiße!" ("Holy Shit!") is about a man who wakes up covered in blood in a porta-potty and has 90 minutes to free himself from his prison and save the love of his life. The film premiered at the Regensburg Hard:Line Film Festival in April 2022, where it won the audience award. After numerous other festival screenings, including at the Brussels Fantasy Film Festival and the Tallinn Black Nights Festival (Estonia), "Ach du Scheiße!" was released in German cinemas in October 2022.
