Lorenz Hochhuth was born on July 31, 1996 in Hamburg, Germany. From 2005 to 2011 he attended courses at the Hamburg Circus School Tribühne, and from 2011 to 2014 he studied at the Zeppelin Theater School in Hamburg. He gained his first stage experience in 2014 at the youth club of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, followed by engagements at the Hamburg Thalia Theater and the Hamburg State Opera. His first film role was in the mid-length film "Spiegelnackt" in 2013, which was awarded the German Youth Film Prize.
From 2017 to 2021, Hochhuth studied acting at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). During this time, he also participated in stage productions at the Berliner Ensemble, the Volksbühne, the Berliner Arbeiter Theater, and the Theater Freiburg. After completing his studies, he joined the ensemble of the Munich Volkstheater for the 2021/22 season.
Lorenz Hochhuth's first leading role in a feature film was in "Drifter" in 2020, while he was still a student. The coming-of-age story, set in the Berlin gay scene, premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale in 2023 and won the award for Best Feature Film at the First Steps Awards. He also played a leading role in "Und dass man ohne Täuschung zu leben vermag" ("Of Living Without Illusion", DE/CH 2023), directed by Katharina Lüdin, who also worked on "Drifter".
